The Story of Frantic Studio: From Impulse to Creation
Where it started
This is the short version, and the only version I will put in writing. In 2023 I had just finished a formal apprenticeship and knew that the path laid out after it was not the one I wanted. I went looking for a creative outlet instead. I found deft clay casting through videos online, taught myself Blender to go with it, and started making the jewellery I could not find to buy. Frantic Studio came out of that, not out of a plan.
How the work is made
My process moves between two things that do not obviously belong together. I model in Blender, which is 3D software, so I can push a shape around until it is right before any metal exists. Then the design goes into deft clay casting, which is an old and fairly rough way of getting molten metal into a form. The digital side gives precision. The casting side gives back texture and small variations I could not draw on purpose.
After casting, every piece is filed, sanded and finished by hand. That finish is either polished, brushed to a matt surface, or oxidized, which means darkened by hand so the recesses go dark and the raised detail stands out. Oxidizing is not a coating. It wears off the high points first, which is the point of it. Nothing here carries a synthetic layer, so every piece develops its own patina depending on who wears it and how.

Why it takes as long as it does
Everything is made to order in solid 925 sterling silver. Production takes 5 to 45 days before an order ships, and most orders leave the bench in about 7. The range is wide because one person is doing the work and some pieces are much more involved than others. I would rather publish an honest range than a number I cannot hold when three difficult orders land in the same week.
Most of what I sell is hand-finished here in the studio. A few designs are produced with a manufacturing partner so they can sit at a lower price, and each product page says which is which. The pieces I finish myself are gathered under hand-finished.
What the material is
Solid 925 sterling silver. Not plated, not filled, not a base metal with silver over the top. It is heavier than people expect when they open the box, and it is meant to be worn rather than kept in a drawer. The weight is part of how the pieces are designed, which I have written about in the context of heavy bracelets.
Where it is now
Still one person at a bench in Germany, still making each order after it comes in. The orders themselves are not local. They go out worldwide, and orders to the United States arrive with duties and customs already covered, so there is nothing to pay on delivery.

My journey didn't start in a traditional jewelry workshop. It started on YouTube. I stumbled upon Deft Clay casting tutorials and was immediately hooked by the visceral nature of the process. I began teaching myself Blender, a professional 3D software, to bridge the gap between digital precision and raw, physical craftsmanship.
Design with Soul
Frantic Studio was born out of a simple impulse: I couldn't find the jewelry I wanted to wear. I wanted pieces that felt "finished" but retained a soul—designs that carried weight and intention. I realized there were so many others looking for that same aesthetic—a balance of high-end design and authentic, gritty character.
A Global Connection
What started as a personal project soon resonated far beyond my own studio. I began sharing my journey on social media, and the response was overwhelming. Today, Frantic Studio is still a dedicated one-man operation, but the community is global. It is a surreal feeling to know that my handmade pieces are being worn by people in Australia, the USA, China, and all corners of the world.

My process is a dialogue between the digital and the physical. By mastering Blender, I can push the boundaries of shape and form, while the casting process brings those designs into the physical world with all their unique imperfections. Every piece is a testament to the idea that jewelry should be more than just an accessory; it should be an expression of self.
What the pieces actually are
Everything I make is 925 sterling silver, which is 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with other metals so it is hard enough to wear every day. Depending on the piece I finish it polished, brushed to a matt surface, or oxidised so the recesses go dark and the raised detail stands out. A few designs are also made in 316L stainless steel plated in 18K gold, for people who want the shape without the silver.
Everything is designed, cast and finished by hand here in Germany. Because it is one person doing the finishing, an order takes 5 to 45 days to make before it ships — most of the time it is around 7. I would rather tell you that up front than pretend there is a warehouse behind this.
I ship worldwide from Germany. Orders to the US arrive with duties and customs already covered, so nothing is charged on delivery. If a piece is not right, there is a 14 day right of withdrawal and a form to start it.
