Oxidized silver is a living finish. To keep the dark patina where it belongs, skip chemical silver dips, because they strip the blackened depth entirely. A soft polishing cloth on the raised surfaces is all you need to bring back contrast, and mild soapy water handles deeper cleaning. I work exclusively in 925 Sterling Silver because jewelry should be permanent. Solid silver is hypoallergenic for most skin, carries real material value, and can be repaired, refinished and worn for generations, unlike plated fashion pieces that end up in landfills once the coating wears through. 925 means 92.5 percent pure silver: strong enough for daily wear, honest enough to age beautifully.
